Leandie Buys Realtionship Therapist & Clinical Sexologist

Seasons of Sex on Amazon

After running a successful practice in Port Elizabeth for over almost 12 years, clinical sexologist Leandie Buys has released an Amazon Kindle version of her debut book titled “Seasons of Sex.”

Seasons of Sex is an overview of the most common difficulties couples experience throughout their relationship, and how these issues can affect the intimacy between them. Chapters include “new relationships”, “relationships with kids”, “after an affair”, and “relationships for older couples” and how to deal with things like menopause and erectile dysfunction.

Each story is written from a “his” and “hers” perspective so that couples can learn to understand each other’s’ viewpoints better.

Stories range from everyday relationship difficulties (such as the best way to communicate with each other) to some more serious topics (such as divorce and adultery).

Personal stories

The personal stories offer a refreshing new look at sex and relationships which one wouldn’t have been exposed to at school or sexual health seminars.

“The title, Seasons of Sex, describes exactly what the book is about,” says Leandie. “It goes through the whole spectrum of the most common difficulties couples experience throughout their relationship and how these issues can affect the intimacy between them. There are sections on new relationships, relationships with kids, and relationships for older couples and how to deal with things like menopause and erectile dysfunction.”

Leandie hopes that the book will help build or re-build the intimacy between couples. “I want people to realise that all couples go through difficult times, but it is the way that these issues are dealt with that affects the quality of the relationship. I hope that this book shows people that there are very few situations that are ‘impossible’ to overcome, and that communication and respect are the key building blocks for a successful life together.”

The book was originally published in Afrikaans in 2009, and the English version was published in 2010.
